Another young talent leaves Schalke. The Gelsenkirchen club has announced that they’ve reached an agreement with Thomas Tuchel’s Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of Thilo Kehrer. Unlike in several previous cases, Kehrer will not move on a free, and the Royal Blues will reportedly receive in excess of €37 million for the young German defender.
Eintracht Frankfurt is set to keep one of its most important players, after Croatian winger Ante Rebic signed a contract extension with the club through to 2022. Rebic was instrumental in this year’s German Cup final win over Bayern Munich, where he scored two of Frankfurt’s three goals in the match. The 24-year-old also proved himself over the summer, helping his team reach the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Rebic said that his decision to commit to Frankfurt was not all about the money. “I had other offers, and some that were better financially,” he said in a news conference. “But I just feel very happy here. That feel-good factor was important to me,” he added.
The signing comes just two days before the Eagles clash with Bayern again at the German Supercup. Coach Adi Hütter said the contract extension was a “strong signal about the club, but also about Ante.” In terms of whether Rebic is set to start in Sunday’s game, Hütter sounded optimistic. “Ante had a long season but he’s in good physical condition, so he’s certainly in contention for the Super Cup.”
